Trazodone???? My new med

Tue, 02-08-2005 - 5:10pm

Finally I got the meds that they pdoc called in for me. Trazodone 50mg 1 to 2 at bedtime. I've looked it up and it seems to be pretty much the same as the paxil, I mean an anti-depressant.

I NEEDED something for my friggin' nerves and he gives me yet another antidepressant!! I thought he'd give me something to ease my irritablity and meanness and a mood stabilizer. I am going to look for a new pdoc tomorrow, or at least find out the ones that participate with my insurance carrier. I will have my regular doctors office find me one. I'll give them the work, but they know what they are doing....or at least they can pretend quite well.

I'm just at a loss. I have no computer at home and I've got to run and catch the bus home. But, I'll check for any responses in the morning. But as for tonight I'll take the pills. Even if it does take a month to get into my system. This just makes no sense to me. I needed something to help me out, now I have to wait. I'm not stupid. Pdoc must think I'm an idiot. I'll handle that tomorrow. OHHHHHHH I'm SO angry.

Gotta run.

I have taken Trazodone, and am unaware that it is anything other than a swell sleeping pill. I do know it is ineffective as an AD in the doses usually given. If it is not what you need, look at it this way: at least you'll get some z's

I hope you get what you need soon!

WOW...I took one pill 50mg and I was out cold. I was asleep well before 8pm and didn't move until 5:30 this morning. OMG....I didn't have a nightmare either. The bottle said 1 to 2 pills at bedtime and I just took one to see what it would do, man alive I was in such need of sleep. My pdoc will get a huge hug if it keeps working. =o)

My nerves are still a little on the raw side, but at least I slept. I'm not as mean, but can still feel that knot in my throat. It may go away....I hope it does.

Talk to you all more later!

Hi Carla. I haven't read the other posts yet, so I'm sorry if I'm redundant.

Try to calm down. Trazodone is an antidepressant, but that's not it's only use. Just like SO many other psych meds, it has multiple uses, and it should help with your nerves. I can practically GUARANTEE that it'll help you sleep well. And, as you hopefully found out last night, you don't have to wait for this one to start working.

Kristen

ok, so I just had the time to go back quickly and read the other posts. I'm very glad that you slept well. It does work superbly as a sleep aid, and that's one of the reasons it's used. It is an antidepressant, and, if you're into trivia, it is also used for impotence. At least, it was about 12 years ago when I worked in urology. Many uses. Don't get hung up on the antidepressant label if you can help it.

Have a good one!

Carla,

YaY! on the sleep. It's amazing what some good sleep will clear up and how quickly it helps! I'm glad your pdoc got you the right thing...I'm also glad you started with just one. I'm hyper sensitive to the stuff. I like Tracy had trouble with too much sleep and I had a rash. I am relieved you can take it because I hear it can really help. Just shows again how different we all are.

Love and Hugs,

Jamie

It is weird how the same meds will do different things to different people, its a good thing and a bad thing. I keep thinking bad thoughts, like how do they know ALL the side effects, etc..but I'm trying to stop thinking of it.

My body would never had let me get up had I taken 2 pills. I took it at 7 and can't really remember 8, so it worked fast, if it was the pill. I was mentally and physically exhausted. We'll see if it helps. I hope it was the medicine. I can't stay awake another night, not with this cramping (TMI, but this is my worst cycle ever!!! due to nerves).

Well...off to catch the bus.
