i have read a couple of posts that mention voices, is this a common symptom of bipolar?
i am not sure i have ever heard voices, but i do have a humming sound in my head when i am manic and my mind is raceing. it sounds sort of electric like the hum of the fridge, or the tv when it first turns off, and i swear that i can feel it, not just hear it.

It's not super common, but not totally uncommon either--usually happens when you're really manic and generally considered to be a psychotic symptom, and definitely something you'd want to let your pdoc know about ASAP.

The supersensitivety to sounds, like the refrigerator humming or any other noise, is REAL common in mania, particularly when you're at the stage when your mind is racing.
