New question...

I have a new question about hospitalization. My doc still wants to hospitalize me but I keep refusing. I have finally figured out the main reason why. Last time all I did was sit, either in my room, or in the "dayroom". My doc would come in once a day for about 5 to 10 minutes. I would get meds, and go to bed. No therapy, no group sessions, nothing. After 4 to 8 days I would be discharged to start the cycle over again. More often than not, I would end up right back in the hospital. However, it was always for depression only. No one knew I was manic. My question is, do they do something different to treat bi-polar? If so, what? I certainly think if I agree to going inpatient, I would need more than just sitting around all day. Do they do anything different?
Thanks!
Jodie

Jodie, the best person to ask would probably be your doc, as all hospitals are different. Your doc will know the protocol for the hospital where he would like to admit you. If your doc still recommends hospitalization, it's probably the best option for you at this moment, and he should know why you are resistant to the idea. It's probably pretty easily cleared up, and going inpatient can do a world of good in a short time.

Jodie,

I have to agree with Kristen.
