Is seroquel and antipsychotic or a mood stabilizer?

Hi Danielle,

I just read in my mini PDR that Seroquel is a anti-psychotic. Now, many meds are used for off label purposes. That mean that they are used to treat something different than what the drug was made to treat. Only your PDoc knows why she prescribed it for you. I am sorry if this isn't the clear cut answer you need.

If you need anything else I am here.
Take care.

I took 800mg/day of Seroquel. I gained weight on it, didn't think it was helping until now I'm a bundle of nerves and really thinking I should not have stopped taking it. Now tomorrow I may be bashing the med, but today I miss it.

I've had that same experience on different drugs, you don't think they are helping until you go off of them. I just am not really sure what the seroquel should be treating. Now she told me it should work all the way around but if that's the case why am I having break through depression/dysphoria episodes. I suppose no med is perfect but there has to be a better way.

I booked my flight today to take a vacation to see my dad next month for my birthday. It was very hard to book the flight and now I have to actually get on. I'm going to ask my p/tdoc for some xanax or ativan for the flight because
