Welcome to the board Melissa!

I can relate to the whole pushing friends away thing - I did that A LOT while I was non-medicated. It's really difficult. Fortunately, the few really good friends (the true friends) that I have now all know about my BP and won't LET me push them away. They understand that it is just the BP talking and ignore me - or tell me that I am off :)

I also typically have extreme mania, although that is my standard mood. If I am not manic - beware because I am below the state of depression. Thank god for meds!!

I know most BP meds are not acceptable for use with pregnancy, but I believe there are a few out there that are considered "safe". Perhaps you can discuss those with your pdoc or ob/gyn. That way, if you become unsafe you have the information at hand and can resume a medicinal treatment.

Either way, please feel free to post here as much/often as you need to. There are some fantastic people here and everyone supports each other beautifully!

Welcome again!

Thanks! It just feels good to know that there are people out here like me and I don't feel so alone.

My doctor has me on anti depressants for my depression 10 mg of lexapro but that is it. He doesn't want to put me on anything else. So far just talking to a person who recommended me to this site, and she has been wonderful. (thanks Janet)

Hi Missa.

I'm pretty new to this board myself and recently dx. This board has been great. I don't feel like such a "freak" anymore. Even if I don't post myself, it helps just to read and be able to relate to others.

Hi, Missa! (If you don't mind me calling you that...) Welcome to the board! (Sorry I'm a little late.)

I'm 23, one youngin' who's 19 months, and I'm 18 weeks pregnant with my second one. Odd! :) Right now, I'm on risperdal (one pill twice a day) and wellbutrin (one pill twice a day) to keep my level moods in the up-and-up. Wellbutrin is class B and Risperdal is class C. Maybe your doc would be willing to check out some other meds. Personally, just being on an anti-depressant is a bad idea...majorly manic! But the risperdal levels me out while the wellbutrin keeps me in a good mood, but without as much of the roller coaster of being without meds.

Welcome to the board! Congrats on your pregnancy! Please feel free to post as much as you'd like!

Hi Melissa,

Welcome to the board!! I am Cyn and I am 26 with 2 dd's. I have been bi-polar since my early teens. I am not sure what meds you can take while you are pregnant. I was not on any when I was carrying my 2 girls.

I hope that you decide to stay and post on the board. It is full of wonderful, caring, and supportive ladies. We know what you are going through because we have either been where you are, or are where you're at.

Congrats on your pregnancy and take good care.
Hugs,
