Can BP meds (Geodon, specifically)

trigger really bad heartburn. I have been struggling with it since I started the geodon, but they may just be a coincidence. I can not get rid of it no matter what I try. Antacids, Pepcid etc. etc. offer very minimal relief for a very minimal amount of time. Any suggestions? My moods are fairly stable, although still feeling below average depression wise, but I don't want to give up mood stablizers (abilify and geodon) just hope to change ad soon. It constantly feels like thier is someone standing on my upper chest.

I was on that med for a short period of time and didn't experience that one.. not to say though that it isn't the med. Everyone's body reacts differently. I know on that med I was a zombie even on the lowest dose. Slurred speech.. sleeping all day. I am on Abilify right now and am tolerating it much better. You should really talk to your doctor if your heartburn is that bad. He might be able to give you something to help your heartburn better.. or just might want to change your med. Has your doctor tried you on Lamictal yet? Anyway.. I will stop rambling. I do hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for the response. I have not tried anything but geodon and ablify. Like you, the abilify is much better. I am still on geodon in the evening, even though I have complained a lot about the effects it has on me. At the lowest dose, I too am sleeping through my life. How long have you been on abilify? I have not yet tried lactimil, do you take that too?

Hi--I took Geodon for 9 months. I never had the symptoms you are describing. I did lose 87 lbs in that time though!!! When I was on 60 mgs/night I was fine with the being tired, but for the last month I was on 100 mgs/night. I kept falling asleep while I was driving to work and then I'd nap for 45 minutes once I got there. I was going to be at 8:45 every night. That wasn't fun. I've been on Lamictal for a year now. I haven't had any side effects at all. I take 200 mgs/night. It's my only med. Amanda

I did not know that lactimil has so few side effects. I am having some luck on abilify but really am thinking of giving up the geodon at night. I also have to restart my gluten free diet for celiac diseasae to attempt to get rid of the heartburn. Can't take meds if I can't absorb them.
