What my doc told me

Well, I am feeling a little bit better today. I went and saw my doc yesterday about my depression. She didn't want to change any of my meds (thank God!!!). Instead, she wants me to go to a group therapy that she is running on a weekly basis. Have any of you gone to a group therapy session? What is it like? Did you find it helpful? Thanks for your thoughts and prayers the other day. I really appreciated it. Hope you all had a good weekend.

When I left the hospital I went to daily group therapy for 3 weeks. It was interesting. I was REALLY nervous about it. I have a fear of talking in social situations but by the end I was pretty confidant. The way the group goes depends on the therapist somewhat. My main therapist let us interupt him and give our opinion. We usually went around the room and mainly talked to him unless someone had any input. There were times he would ask the group if we had any ideas for a person. I liked seeing others making progress. I know we bonded and I was a little sad when it was time for me to stop going. I hope that helps some. (I'm in FL, too.)

I didn't do so well in group therapy. I tend to be blunt....here's the story.
This woman has obviously been in group and individual therapy for quite some time, because she was WAY too comfortable giving out WAY too much information.

I'm with you on the whole speaking up thing. I'm in group therapy, too, for other things. I find it really difficult sometimes to hold my tongue until they're done. But, I think you're right...unless you speak up, how can some of those people know when they're actions have become unacceptable? We need other people as mirrors to help us along our journey.
Keep up the good work!
