Hi, Mary! There is no magic age that you can tell if you have bp or not. Some of us have been since we were little kids, and some have just recently been diagnosed. Did your tdoc give you any reasons why he would think this? Has he been thinking this for awhile?

yea my T said she thought I was BP cause my moods I can be really really happy and full of energy and then all of a sudden I hit bottom for no reason, and become suicidal.
my moods change very very fast and it happens all though out the day, that is hwy she thinks.

Hi mary.
((hugs))

I think it was Keli that says it will worsen if it is untreated. Let me tell you I can attest to that. I am 24 now and it has been the worst year ever.

You don't necessarily need a pdoc in my opinion. I have a pdoc now, but the one who originally prescribed all of my meds originally was my family doctor.

As for knowing if you are bp or not. Either tdoc will want you to see the dxing or not. In any case probably more questions, maybe a quiz or mood chart. Or maybe just the effects of medication will be enough to tell.
