I read it on MSN. They don't divulge his condition, but seeing he's so talented.....any takers on him being BP? Poor guy.

The article said that he signed a 2yr 50 MILLION deal with Comedy Central. It goes to show me if I won the freakin' lottery I would not be happier or healthier.

I feel so sorry for him.

Maybe he just went into shock when they told him how much money he was gonna get! lol!! i don't mean to be flippant, just in a silly mood today. maybe its all the pain meds! (that are NOT working)

i do hope he gets the help he needs. he's a very talented young man.

I think he is too. Pdoc told me to watch as much comedy as I can and I do. =o) You weren't flippant. Pain meds? was he in an accident? I know for sure I would NOT want to go to a facility unless it was the very LAST resort, and I'd like for it to be on a resort, an all inclusive one. LOL

sadly i think anytime a celebrity goes into a mental facility the media automatically jumps to substance abuse. maybe it is or isn't. but whatever the case i hope he gets the help he needs.

now to show my lack of knowledge in the comedy field, i've heard of this guy but can't quite place him. what's he known for?

hugs

He has a show on Comedy Central called the Dave Chappelle show. its hilarious! hes also known for his portrayal of Rick James the R&B singer who made the song "MaryJane" and "Super Freak".

I too hope that it's not drug abuse. He's so talented. i hope he gets well soon.

CHAPPELLE SAYS HE’S NOT ON
CRACK: Comedian responds to recent
drug and mental rumors in ‘Time.’

*"I'm not crazy, I'm not smoking crack,"
comedian Dave Chappelle tells “Time”
magazine in an interview, addressing
“Entertainment Weekly’s” report last week
that the entertainer had checked himself
into a mental health facility in South Africa.
"I'm not in a mental facility," said
Chappelle, who also said he did not have
a drug problem but had consulted
a psychiatrist for one 40-minute visit.
The 31-year-old said he was “definitely
stressed out” and decided to stay with
friends in Durban because he wasn't happy
with the direction of his Comedy Central
series “Chappelle’s Show,” which recently
saw the debut of the third season
postponed indefinitely.
In describing the reason for his South
African “spiritual retreat,” Chappelle says:
"You hear so many voices jockeying for
position in your mind that you want to make
sure that you hear your own voice," he said.
"So I figured, let me just cut myself off from
everybody, take a minute and pull a
Flintstone — stop a speeding car by using
my bare feet as the brakes. …There's a lot
of resistance to my opinions, so I decided,
'Let me remove myself from this situation,'"
Chappelle said.
Comedy Central president Doug Herzog
told Time that the star has "complete creative
freedom." Despite Chappelle’s reported
$50 million deal with the network for two
more seasons of the show, Herzog has
informed its staff that there may not be
a "Chappelle's Show" in 2005, but leaves
the option open for the comedian's return.
Chappelle said he hopes to come back
to the series, but did not indicate when
a return would take place.
Chappelle also spoke with “Time” about
the fast life that comes along with a sudden
rise to fame.
"If you don't have the right people
around you, and you're moving at a million
miles an hour, you can lose yourself," he
said. "Everyone around me says, 'You're
a genius, you're great, that's your voice,'
but I'm not sure that they're right."
