I don't know that much about bi-polar, and I guess I could look up more info...but firgured I could get the best answers here.

Is it possible to have bp, but not have the manic episodes you all are talking about?

Hi there!! Yes it is possible to be Bipolar with what you are describing. In fact that is the way I am. I dont have the "manic" episodes that you read about, mine is more anger or irritability. I can be so mean sometimes!! And like you I have more depression than the other. It really stinks. But the anger thing is definitly a symptom. The other day I was at Target and this woman just walked in front of me and I swear I was so ready to just jump down her throat. That is not like me. And I have yelled at my husband so many times too. No just yelling but YELLING!! I hope this helps.

I have what is called Cyclothymia bordering on Bipolar 2. With this, you don't have the huge manic attacks. I can be laughing one minute and then ready to beat somebody with a bat the next. My advice to you would be to go to a Psychiatrist and see what he/she says.

I'm currently on meds, and I realize when my moods are shifting where I didn't before.

Thanks...that does help.

I'm on meds now...day 23 or 24...sometimes they help and sometimes they don't.

((((donna)))) i have to agree with what's already been said. i, too, have more depressive episodes and then i have what's referred to as hypomanic episodes - the anger/rage/irritability/out of control libido/etc. your pdoc may be reserving a dx because symptoms of bp are so close to so many other disorders they often reserve dxing
