Hi,
I've been reading some postings and thought maybe I could join in? I'm 28, female, married with a 13 month old DS. I was diagnosed as bipolar seven years ago and have been on nearly ever med available. However, last week my psychiatrist put me on Trileptal. Have any of you tried this? If so, could you tell me about your experience? I am currently depressed, and just can't quite get out of it. I'm usually more manic or hypomanic. I cannot stand feeling so dull and lethargic. It sucks. Everything seems like so much work and effort, I could just sit down and cry. But no one seems to understand. I have to go to my inlaws house tomorrow. They don't understand that I'm sick. When I did not go last weekend DH just said, "She's sick." But it never clicks with them what that means. Anyways, I just wanted to let you all know I'm around, and hopefully I can give and recieve some support :)
Thanks,
Sonja

Welcome to the boards. Everyone here is extremely supportive and wonderful!
I can totally relate to the family not understanding your being sick. My husband told me tonight he is sick to death of me and my moods. ARGH!
I've never taken the med you are talking about, but I'm sure some of the girls on the board have taken them and can give you some advice. I'm currently on Lamictal and it is really doing well for me.
Do you have any hobbies? Tell us a little about yourself. :)
Sonja,
Welcome to the board, I'm glad you found us--this is a great place of support with a WONDERFUL group of ladies (unless there are some lurker guys, in which case--please speak up!).
I took Trileptal for a short time, but discontinued it because of a side effect that really effected my quality of life--can't remember now exactly what, but was sufficient enough for me to throw in the towel on it early on!
Welcome to the board. I hope you find all the support and love that I did when I joined just a few months ago.
Missy
Just wanted to say welcome. Can't help you on the med, because I have only tried abilify and geodon and a host of AD. Hope you get some relief soon.

Welcome (((Sonja)))
I personally don't have any experience with the drug, but I wanted to welcome you. You've found a great bunch of women here (if I do say so myself) ;)
I wish I could be more hypo/manic with the occasional depression but it's the other way around for me. Usually. In the summer I get more mania overall and in the winter more depression, but I cycle within those seasons too.
Welcome again.
Hugs,
Amanda
Welcome Sonja,
I do hope the trileptal helps you. It did the exact reverse for me. It caused severe rage in me, and I have a rage problem to begin with. I truly hated trileptal. Most all the meds I've taken have not really helped me at all. Now I'm on trazodone only. It helps me sleep at night. Pdoc and I are scheduled for a med overview soon.
Good Luck with the med, it doesn't always mess with ya like it did me.
Hugs & Hope
Carla
