TRIGGERS!?!
Some how I missed it, but apparently a short time ago, Tom launched a major verbal barrage of criticism against Brooke Shields and her coming out with her story of post-partum depression and how AD's saved her sanity and life.
This morning the Today show featured an interview with him & in one segment he launched into a virtual diatribe about psychiatry in general, that there is no such think as a chemical imbalance

I thought I was the only person who became EVIL when I was pms'ing. LOL xdh would pretty much stay in the garage until he saw the light go off and he knew I was asleep. LOL
Valerie20, I used Carla18 because I'm CRAZY about Bobby Labonte, NASCAR driver. But now my favorite driver is YUMMY Elliott Sadler, he drives the M&M's #38 car. I had to share that with you. I thought you were a Tony Stewart fan, funny how my mind didn't even connect an age. =o)
I was seriously thinking that Tom Cruise actually had a good movie coming out "War of the Worlds" now I refuse to see it!!!! It might trigger panic in me anyway.
Hugs & Hope
Carla who is 36 and falling apart before your very "eyes".
carla, i've got 2 years on ya, soon to be 3 and all i can say is we'll have to compare notes on the falling apart issue! lol! i didn't realize tom cruise was in that movie. that is also a movie i want to see. jury is still out on whether i will or not now. ugh, he's such an idiot!
hugs,

It seems to me like Tom Cruise thinks taking an anti-depressant is some sort of moral failing. Since when is taking medicine you need to feel good and function effectively a bad thing? That's why they manufacture the stuff!
I think Tom Cruise is very fortunate that he has never experienced depression or bp the way we have. I have been off of my meds and my dh will be the first to tell you that I definitely need them.
If I was Katie Holmes, I would run as far away from this man as I could. He's too old for her and obviously too set in his ways to be a good husband. God forbid she need some sort of medication, what is he going to tell her? To think positive, drink water, exercise, and take her vitamins?
Personally, I think this whole romance thing is ridiculous. I believe they have only known each other a short time. Wait until they have been together a few years if they make it that far. I doubt they'll be gushing over each other then. At this point they don't even know one another....
And, depression/mental illness definitely DOES exist. I am probably one of the cleanest living people around. I exercise (most of the time), eat properly (most of the time), don't smoke or drink, and take my vitamins every day. Vitamins definitely are not the answer.
And, besides, I have never even been a Tom Cruise fan. His nose is too hawk-like, he's short, and I always felt like his wives (he's had two so far, Mimi Rodgers and Nicole Kidman), and his gf's were a cover-up for him being gay. (No offense intended.) Maybe he'll come out of the closet next and be admitted to some sort of hospital where he admits he's been abusing prescription meds.

that is exactly what he thinks, sadly enough. this scientology is a crock disguised as a "religion" and we have people like l. ron hubbard and books like dianetics to thank for this garbage. it's a joke, and i'm sorry if that offends anyone here, but that's my own opinion. i'm not saying religious choices must equal that of my own, but this one is over the top in my book.
i'm not one for "organized" religion and having to go to church every sunday to worship god and ask forgiveness, etc. i am a more spiritual person who believes in a Higher Power, whatever she/he may be. i'm open and usually non-condeming of people's religious beliefts, but as i stated in an earlier post, this is IMHO the equivalent of david koresh and his branch davidians that died in waco texas, or jim jones and his followers that all committed mass suicide and charlie manson who thinks he's jesus.
just my opinions. sorry if i offended anyone, as this was not my intention.

Marci,
I don't mean, in any way, to make light of your feelings, but, who the heck cares what Tom Cruise says?
morgaine,
just wanted to say that i share some of your views as well. namely the *tv-thingie*. i can remember sitting here in my basement, undoubtedly researching something on the computer or something and my sister calling in a terribly frantic state wanting to know where everyone in the house was. well, they were at school, as was my mother who was still teaching at the time. i asked her what was wrong.......the date of the call was 09/11/01 by the way. i had no clue until she called what had happened. i typically do not watch tv. the only time it's on is when one of my kids is watching it. i prefer my music.
scientology may work for him, he has no right to get on national television, for those that do watch it, and tell everyone how wrong it is to take meds, etc. just my opinion though. your beliefs don't sound terribly different from mine. i just think for the people that do watch this stuff, the network ought to offer some sort of rebuttal. you know, equal time like in high school debates. again, just my opinions;)
anyway, keep dusting off *it* 'cause ya never know:) while i keep my nose buried in my text books and my music going in the background.
the one thing i feel fairly certain of is that everyone here will make it through this bp mess because we are all strong individuals. be it by medication or meditation, we will come out on top.
hugs,
traci
