Yes, I got my flu shot about a month ago. I don't think I dare test this new heart valve with the flu. Now they are recommending Diptheria, Pertussis and Tetnus booster. I contact my primary care doc and he said I should get one but I am going to hold off until I see the cardiologist. I haven't had a tetnus shot in years because they made my arm sore all the way down and so I was told not to get one. But it has been many many years since I had the last one. Friends who have gotten the booster have complained of really sore arms afterwards. We have had a number of young babies in CA die from whooping cough this year so that is the reason behind the recommendation.
Whooping cough hit me when I was 18, and had mononeucleosis. Of course, that was when they still thought the vaccines lasted longer. I can remember getting boosters on vaccines every year at the Health Dept., but I missed a few years before that. Talk about sick!!! I hope they will let you get boosters. By-the-way, the tetnus booster doesn't hurt like it used to. Just remember to move that arm.
I hope she is feeling better. It is probably a different rhino virus. You can't get the flu from the vaccine because it is a dead virus and it takes about 6 weeks for the immunity to take hold so it is possible to come down with the flu that is covered by the vaccine during that window of opportunity.
I will not be getting one since I am not considered in

I keep telling people you can't get the flu from the flu shot and they tell me I'm crazy.
Dee,
Good thing you are doing a good job taking care of yourself because she would probably be too ill to help you, if you needed it!
It is really hard to get the flu from a dead virus but I guess some people can!!! :smileyvery-happy:
