Hi all! I'm semi-new to babywearing, I wore DS (20 months) in a baby k'tan when he was old enough to do kangaroo holds and such and I'm now expecting a girl due 12/07/10 and I'm really wanting to wear her and nurse her in a ring sling. I looked online and found how easy it was to make a ring sling and decided to make a few. I bought my rings on slingrings.com and researched which fabrics were the best.
Here are my questions:
- What's the best width of the fabric for nursing and carrying a newborn or older?
- Is it OK/acceptable to use 100% cotton/calico fabric?
- For question #1 I checked the width of the two I made and they are 21-22 inches wide and I read that's narrow for a ring sling.
- I also read that 100% cotton/calico fabrics are not great because they aren't good enough to stand up to the wear and tear of babywearing.
You're help would be greatly appreciated. I'm less than 4 wks away and would love to have my 3 slings done by the time she's born.
