how "crazy" do you have to be in order to qualify for diability? i skipped work today, and i haven't felt this good in months. it has been suggested repetedly that perhaps working is not the best thing for me right now. but i can't quit. this family cannot make it without my pay check. we are barely makeing it with my paycheck. selling our house will help, but so far no takers.

i am not "crazy" at all. and to get disablity, you have to be DISABLED to a provable degree.

there are people on this board who are ON disability or who are trying to get disability and I have the utmost respect for them and i take offense at your using the word "crazy" because they are NOT crazy.

please remember that it takes a LONG time to get qualifed and it takes a LOT of effort and hard work.

not anything bad towards you, just my opinion, that we are not crazy. there is enough stigma related to mental illness and its just that type of attitude right there that makes it even more difficult for all of us to make it in the world we live in.

I think sometimes we poke fun at what we are going through by saying things like "crazy" and I just called myself a "loon" in another post. I think those of us who have a mental illness know the stigma attached and I think it is okay to make light of it at times if it makes you feel better. I know that that is sometimes the case and I hope that is what the other poster intended. It didn't sound like she was trying to offend anyone but maybe I am just being too undersensitive (3mg of xanax today).

Anyway, just my opinion and hope that we can sometimes make everyone feel better with a little levity although I know at low points we usually cannot find anything funny about these whole mental illness issues.

Hope I did not make it worse. I certainly am not meaning to offend you or the original poster just thought about from another point of view.

In addition to the wonderful support you'll find here, I did want to let you know that we have a message board that discusses Workers Comp and SSDI issues:

It's not so much a matter of how "crazy" you are but how that affects your ability to work--at any job.
