Quick update on me and a question.....

I am still here and doing OK at times. At other times, I am sobbing or yelling at my kids. I am still in my classes and hoping to continue most of the time. I see the pdoc tommorrow so I am hoping she will offer something that may help. I am anxious all the time and my eye is twitching or feels like it is because of it.

Can anyone tell me a little about seroquel? My pdoc mentioned that instead of the abilify when we started the abilify, so I am thinking it might come up again, especially with my lack of sleep lately. Does it work for you? Does it make you sleepy during the day? Any other side effects? Weight gain? Basically, I just want to be prepared for tommorrow, as the last increase of abilify did not work so I am not sure if she will up it again or change meds. I just know that she mentioned this one and want all the info I can before I agree to take it.

I have been plain miserable to dh and kids and need this to stop.

On a good note, my new schedule has been losing weight, 2 pounds.

missy,

i take 450 mgs of seroquel a day - 50 during the day and the 400 at night. when the dose is strong enough it makes me sleepy, but it's been a long time since its had that effect on me. right now it would be welcome as opposed to what's going on.

i know keli takes like 25 mgs a day and it makes her very sleepy. so as you can see it affects people differently......just like all meds. it has not had any weight gain effects on me either. something else i wish it would have done.

the one thing it does do is helps with the racing thoughts when the dosage is right. i'm still waiting to see if this latest increase will do the trick for me. cause otherwise i'm going to have to come off of it as it appears to be doing very little for me these days.

sorry i couldn't be of much help. i'm not much good to anyone these days. but that's my experience with seroquel.

Missy,

It's gonna take some time to adjust to school, studying and a whole new schedule, but I know you can do it--your kids and dh will survive.

I have seroquel kind of as my "back up" med. I take it when I am manic and it helps with all the racing thoughts and all. How if effects me varies. When really manic I can take like 400 and it barely touches me. Othertimes we use it to calm me down from a panic attack and 25 knocks me out. So, go figure. It's like most of our meds, we have to play around a little to get it right. It sure used to help me sleep at night, but left me with that "hang over" feeling.

Hope you feel better soon, let us know!!

Went to see pdoc today. We agreed that it is not the abilify that is the problem but the effexor. She had me drop a pill last week and that affected me badly, so we are going to wean off slower. I am starting lexapro now. Keeping my fingers crossed that it helps with the withdrawal effects of effexor. I have told pdoc since March that effexor did nothing for me, now she is agreeing. Wish she would have taken me seriously then.

Have to go back to studying now. Have my first three tests Tuesday, Wed and Thursday. Ugh.

Missy,

I hope the Lexapro helps!
