How long until you found a med that

helps, even a little. I have bpII, is that easier to treat? Really questioning everything right now. These meds are expensive even with insurance, as are the appts. I could save 100's of dollars a month and still feel the same.
Missy

(((((((((Missy)))))))))) for me it took all total 5 almost 6 years. But most of those years the BP was undiagnosed, which was part of the problem. I was diagnosed back in December of 2004 and was on several different combinatations between December and probably March of 2005. That's when we found the one combination that provided at least some relief....in that it stopped the manic swings and held off the depression more than the other meds. But I still was having the depressive episodes. So, pdoc kept adjusting the meds I am on (seroquel, wellbutrin, trileptal, trazodone, and occasionally xanax) trying to get the right mix. He finally added depakote last week and that has been a wonder drug! So all I can say is stick with the treatment, talk to your pdoc, and keep working towards the right combo. It's out there for you, sometimes it just takes a while.
I know how frustrating it can be. There were several times over the past 10 months that I just wanted to chuck all the meds and say screw it! But as I will tell you, friends told me hang in there. The right med(s) will find their way to you! You've got to fight and you will win! There is no quick or easy fix to this, much as we all wish there was. Just know that we are here for you. So vent any time you need or just talk.
Missy,
It took me over 2 years, from the time I was properly dx'd BP--I can't begin to count the number of meds I tried or combinations, that either brought no relief, made me worse or had impossible side effects.
