What I want to say is not only kudos for the great tips here, but I also want to say this. I think you moms are doing a great job in teaching your kids on how to budget. I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that I was not really taught how to budget growing up. I kind of had to learn on my own. I think you are doing a great job in teaching your children the value of a dollar. I salute you.

You've hit on something that's dear to my heart. Wise shopping and thrift can be life long habits if we instill these values early. I remember taking my daughter shopping for clothes, when she was still in kindergarten, and having her help me by finding the racks with the big 50%, 60% or even 75% sale signs on top. It was a fun game then, but now, as an adult, she knows to look for the best price before selecting anything.

At home we can teach them to conserve resources and avoid wastefulness too.
