can not stay awake and barely move? Is this something that goes along with BP? I have been tested for many things with no solutions. I have been this way for like the last 2 years. I used to wake up ready to go and that never happens anymore. I can stay awake to drive, for classes etc. It gets me really down. I sleep at least 8 hours a night. I barely make 9pm at night, but get up at like 7 a lot of days. WTF is wrong with me. I am so tired of feeling tired. Some days are better than others, but not many. When I am not as sleepy, my moods are better.

what meds are you on. Some will make you sleepy. Just a thought. I know how it feels though. There are days I cannot get out of bed, then there are nights I walk around town at 1 am.

Missy,

Jen is right about the meds--a lot of them have a sedative effect at first, although most ease up after a month or so.

Thanks Jen and Marci.

My meds have been changed, but this has been going on for much longer than that. Maybe it is depression, because it is getting better somewhat on the cymbalta. It could be anemia too. My iron level is always low. I had my thyroid checked not too long ago. Just so tired of feeling crappy. I will give it awhile on the new meds, but just can't shake the feeling that this is medical. Am I turning into a hypochondriac now?

I usually dont respond on here, I lurk but this is me totally. I'm always tired. I sleep 12-15 hours a night and wake up and still feel tired. I can barley make it to 6 most nights. I asked my doctor and they did thyroid test(was fine) and everything else but I'm really starting to think it's one of my meds. I hate feeling like this. My daughter is telling everyone that will listen to her about how her mommy sleeps a lot and this is starting to affect my marriage too. So please hang in there and if you find anything out please post it. I'm so desperate for some answers. What meds are you taking? Have a good day.

missy,

it very well may be the meds. i've been on trileptal since last winter and while it doesn't necessarily "help" me sleep, i'm exhausted the entire next day. but when one doesn't sleep anyway, it makes laying down and taking a nap a bit difficult. so perhaps mine is both a blessing and a curse;) but if it seems better on the cymbalta, maybe it's depression too. talk to your pdoc and see what they tell you. keep us posted.

Hi Missy,

I can so relate to this. I used to be such the "morning person". Then I dropped into a long-term depression and began to need more and more and more sleep. My DH, bless him, takes care of everything on weekends so I can get in my 12 hours... LOL!

Eventually (for the depression) I started on Abilify, which had a weird effect on me. It is supposed to be "activating" but it made me so, so, so tired (24 hours a day) when I was awake, it felt like I was walking through quicksand (spent many times at work, going into the back room and doing jumping-jacks just to keep awake) started taking 2-4 hour naps on weekends (in addition to my 12 hours at night) but I just kept on taking it and eventually it did get better.

After saying all that, I would still definitely get a regular check up and be sure to explain your symptoms, so they test you for anemia and other things. My boss became anemic and was so tired and weak he couldn't even stand up long enough to brush his teeth.

Just wanted to put in my 2 cents.
