Sharing some good news...

Okay, so my mom has a social worker now...she just had her first appointment. She liked her worker a lot...her name is Charlene. Well, Charlene is going to pick my mom up for her appointments, taking a lot off my Dad. She is also going to arrange for my mom to go to day groups and arrange for transportation for them! She's going to help my mom make some friends and find some activities to participate in. She told my mom she COULD and NEEDED to have a life! My mom agreed. Mom said she cried the whole time, but I told her that was normal and OKAY! Charlene told her the reason she is so depressed sometimes is because she is STUCK IN THE HOUSE 24/7/365. That yes, she may be blind, but she isn't dead! She can have a life and friends outside of ME and MY DAD. So, I made a deal with my mom...I told her that if she would go to these groups, and activities, and make new friends and enjoy herself, I would go to my Bipolar Support groups and make some real life friends of my own...that I would get out of my own little world.

But isn't that really great news??? I want sooooo much for her to finally get out of the house. She is SUCH a HUGE people person and people are drawn to her immediately! She can talk to anyone, and people always like her right off the bat and all that is being wasted. Whew! An answered prayer.

I told her she doesn't have to go overboard. She could find one or two things she liked and go from there. She didn't have to do EVERYTHING. I hope she really finds something cool. If you pray, please please pray for that. If my mom is happy, that means sooo much to me and my emotional/mental state.

Love and Hugs,

Keli

Keli,

I am so happy for your mom. God, is looking out for her. This is such a big step for her and I know she will love it even though at first it may be scary and feel weird. She can make friends and do more and that will make her feel more alive and not so trapped in her house. I am so glad you shared that with us all.
