this child is sick every single day...she imagines the symptoms for everything from diabetes to cancer on a daily basis.
she begs out of school,or the nurse calls & has me come get her.
i feel like a beast.
i get angry cause every day is another that she cons me into letting me keep her home...dh says its hormones.she's 10.don't know what to do.

ok...it could be hormones...but that wouldn't give her those symptoms.

how about a tdoc just to see why she is doing this - something at school could be going on.

At this point I'd say a tdoc is probably more in order than a pdoc; if they feel a pdoc is necessary later on they'll recommend it.

the school nurse is a retard or she wouldn't call me everyday to tell me sara has no fever but she says she doesn't feel well...pick her up.i had words with the nurse about it & she played STUPID.
my dd is also doing a show w/ a theater company & i cannot penalize her from it b/c it would really disrupt alot of other people.
so she doesn't go to school & she does go to rehearsal.
& my friend karen is trying to figure out what's wrong & to teach her to shake it off.
this began at the end of the summer.i was working & could not take off for my kids.my dd gave me one bad afternoon when she imagined she was dying.an older girl had had the same symptoms the day b/f b/f she got her period.
in one month my dd went from being short & fat to being long & lean & she thinks that as soon as she gets her period she'll be fine(ha ha)
i seriously don't know the 1st place to take her.it was hard enough beleive it or not to find a dr. for me.

hey sus! is there something going on at school that makes dd not want to go? have you talked with her school guidance counselor? that might be the best way to start. i did a lot of that too when i was her age...and i know now it was the start of my BP, and being totally depressed and not fitting in at school in any way. not saying that's the case with your dd though. i was never given any help with my illness, depression, or anything...and i had it rough for a while...then i turned about 14 and got manic...stayed there til i was 19...then got depressed again for two years...then the cycle continues...but that's beside the point...

i'm sorry dh isn't being supportive of your wanting to get help for your dd. she really sounds like she is struggling right now and needs some help from somewhere...the school guidance counselor might be able to give you some insight as to how she acts at school and maybe give you some advice as to where to go from here.

hang in there!

love and hugs,

keli
