One in 20 women would rather give up a limb than be obese, according to a study in the journal Obesity.

Okay I'm not one to say I haven't wished my fat away. Or made irrational deals with God to slim my thighs. Or promised all sorts of impossible things to have a more Jessica Biel-ish a$$.

Exactly!!! I thought it was totally bizarre. You can't tell me that those women don't have food issues.

WOW! Give up a limb? Now that's just crazy talk! I know I have my weight issues but there's no way I'm giving up a limb to weigh less!

Well....... I have to admit that the other day I did mention to my girlfriend that I would give up my right arm to get one decent night of sleep (Caden keeps crawling into bed with us multiple times a night and it's getting worse!). I didn't really mean it though - just a figure of speech.

I guess if it was a study then perhaps the people would really contemplate the question seriously. I wonder if those 5 didn't suffer from something else though do to obesity - high blood pressure, diabetes, etc... I understand that we always have the option of loosing weight with proper exercise and diet but to some that just seems insurmountable.

I guess I can understand saying something like that but not really following through or actually really wishing that...

I'd say that hearing this is not surprising. How many people would you say are in an average graduating class? Wouldn't you say that a small majority of students

That's a good point about people being fat-phobic Aqualily. I suppose it can be a response to the cruelty that we see.
