I only am asking because if I get 9 plus hours of sleep, I function soo much better. Granted, my kids don't sleep through the night, so I am up at least 2 times during that time period. Is it possible that I just need that much sleep? The pdoc and tdoc seem to think I am nuts and should not need that much sleep. I see how much worse I am with less sleep. I think people need different amounts of sleep and I need a ton of it, LOL.

I get about 9 hours every night. But my sleep is very restless, especially right now with my medications going bezerk. I need at least 12 to function properly which sucks because I can never get enough sleep.

Wow...you guys sleep ALOT! I usually get almost exactly 5 hrs a night, even on the weekends. When I am manic its like 2 hours a night if that much. Anyways, consider yourselves blessed to be able to sleep that much.

The docs said that you must be "nuts"!!!? Personally, I sleep that much and sometimes longer. That kind of comment from a professional is...unprofessional. You are NOT nuts.

Well, on school days I usually get 6-7 hours of sleep because I have an 8 o'clock class that I am very good at going to but also very good at always staying up until midnight or so. I would never wake up on my own with that amount of sleep. On those days I have to drag myself out of bed when the alarm clock goes off and often take a nap when I get home from school.

I actually feel rested on the weekends, when I can sleep about 10 hours. I have never heard that having to sleep 10 hours is nuts. My psychology courses have said that every person needs a different amount and you just need to know how much your body requires. Granted, it is usually a pain to need that much sleep because I often don't get it. But that's just the way I am. I guess that I need to work on getting to bed earlier so I can feel better in the morning when I have to wake up at 7.

I have to have at LEAST 8 hours, usually more if I can get it...I just cannot function on less. If I do get less, my moods start swinging big time, usually into depression. Weird, but true. Most people will get manicky on less sleep, but not me.
