It is LEGAL for me to file for temporary custody of the children while dh is in this toxicated state. I've been referred to a lawyer, put in a message, awaiting reply.

So I don't have to worry about divorce right now!!!

I have no idea if he made it to his assessment today. Crossing my fingers.

Hi Bonnie,

Glad to hear you were put in touch with an attorney. I have a question for you. Did the Bar Association provide you with a list of attorneys to proceed? If you could let me know I'd really appreciate it.

Way to go on getting started on the custody issue! That's great!

I went to the Oregon state bar association website and they had a form to fill out for referral and a field to fill in for why you seek a lawyer and to location of where you'd like to meet with a lawyer. They called me within 3 hour and gave me only one name. Probably due to the city I asked for. But it gives me a starting place. So if you don't limit the city I bet you'll get more than one if your state does this.

Oh yeah, because I used the bar association as a referral my 1st consult is limited to $35, I just have to be sure to tell the lawyer I was referred by the bar.

I used to work for an arbitrator in UT so I dealt with the bar assoc a lot there & they were always great to work with.
