Being Diagnosed

Hello;

I read through some of the articles here about Bipolar Disorder, and I was wondering...how could I get assessed for this? If I'm Bipolar, that would explain a lot, but I need to know for sure. Does it cost anything to take an assessment? Where would I need to go? Any kind of advice/suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks,

To get properly assessed for bipolar, you should see a psychiatrist. If you have insurance, it could cover it. If you don't, you either have to pay his fee, or find out what services are available in your community. Many clinics offer care free or on a sliding fee scale, your state health department could refer you, also try department of economic security.

If you are a student, your school probably has a pdoc on staff. Look into it if that fits your description

Best of luck to you! Prayers your way!

Thank you so much! I'll check out those sites tonight, and I'll definitely see if my school has a counselor who can assist with this kind of thing.

Everyone here seems very nice and helpful. Thanks again!

Hi There - When I got diagnosed I went to a Psychologist who specialized in giving Psychiatric Tests. When I took the test the psychologist told me it should take a couple of hours. Well, when I took it I was manic and I got finished in no time at all. I was later diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder with Borderline Personality Traits. Your insurance should cover it and could probably direct you to the right person. Good Luck - Let us know how it turns out - Take Care, Jena
