p-nurse dropped H

Now she just called and said she will not see him as a patient any longer. No reasons why so far. He's asked for her to call him directly. She is referring him to yet another p-nurse, so no psychiatrist yet, that is about 25 miles away from his work. Very inconvenient.

The psychiatrist H saw is with the ER & does not take patients so he will not be returning.

As for the type of med. The p-nurse sent H home with 1 sample of the Albify, then the following day she said she didn't feel safe giving it to him so gave him 1 weeks worth of samples of Seroquel. H now has a prescrip for 1 week of the Seroquel & needs somebody to prescribe more after he's been checked out at the end of the week.

FRUSTRATING! If it's not one thing it's another. Why in the world is this so difficult for patients who could be operating under deminished capacity? I'm trying really hard not to get involved in making appointments & such for him. I want him to do as much as possible on his own. I've learned when I do the footwork for him it doesn't last, but if he does it himself then he stays with the program better. So I doing what I can to only be a soundboard. Which is hard for me b/c I know this would have been taken care of a long time ago if I took over. Oh well, we want it to last, don't we!

UPDATE:

Aahhhh, we see now! p-nurse finally called H. She is pediatric, says she will not see adults if they have substance abuse problems. She's agreed to keep H until she can get him to see the psychiatrist in her location & not 25 miles away now. Especially since a psych has prescribed the meds who does deal with substance abuse. She'll write a month-long prescrip now.

Whew!
