While I still wish my DD had waited I'm now really looking forward to being a Grandma, but all of a sudden I'm having all kinds of anxiety.

(((((((((Marci)))))))))) First thing to do is take a deep breath. I know it's probably easier said than done, but that's where you need to start. Your health - both mentally and physically - come first.

The anxiety is normal though. But Donna is right - I think this baby will be a good change for you. He/she already has you thinking "outside the box" ;) Patience (or lack thereof) is something I have struggled with as long as I can remember. But, when it comes to babies, there's no struggle. It's odd. But then look at the source.....I'm odd. LOL!

I can only offer assistance as on that recently had a baby at 39 and is disabled with back and leg problems. You might consider getting an Arms Reach co-sleeper for the baby so it can sleep in your daughters room at night. I had one with my daughter. I was able to respond to her immediately instead of having to go to another room in the middle of the night to take care of her. You can have accomodations downstairs for when you watch her durimng the day. I changed my daughter right on the couch next to me or on the floor in front of me, no carrying her to a changing table. I kept a basket with diapers and wipes handy. I held my daughter in a sling to do some activities, definitely not cooking or walking in a situation where I might fall. I think because I kept my daughter so close she rarely cried. Whenever I could I had someone else put her in the car. Once she started standing at all we started working on her climbing into a car seat. Once she could crawl I would have her crawl over to the couch so I could pick her up from a seated position. As she has gotten bigger she now has a step stool she can hold my hand to climb and I can lift her from the top step. I also have her on a harness when we go out to the store or wherever. She can't bolt away from me but it still affords her more freedom. she is 21 months old now. She climbs in the car and car seat. Climbs up on the couch to be held. Picks things up off the floor for mommy.
When she was real tiny she had a floor gym with jungle animals that she really loved. It kept her very content.
It's not easy but you can make modifications. Of course you need to take care of yourself if it becomes too much. You might check for referrals on low/no cost child care as a possible option as the baby gets bigger.
Gotta go, mine is waking up from a nap.
