I just got back from the new pdoc appointment. I LIKE this woman! She actually explains things. I now have an idea as to why the old pdoc had to keep jacking up the doses of meds - smoking tends to give meds a run for their money. So, now I'm going to work doubly hard to quit. She also explained why up until the past year or so I never knew I was bipolar.

She reviewed my meds and didn't put me back on trileptal. She is keeping me on the wellbutrin and depakote. We switched from seroquel to zyprexa. And, I will take the trazodone only if I need it.

She said that she thinks part of the reason I crashed so hard, even being on the wellbutrin and depakote was because I needed serotonin. Zyprexa has serotonin in it, so she is hopeful that this will be the long overdue cocktail that will work for me. She said the dosage will be small. Starting at 5mg and if need be going up to 10. I start the zyprexa tomorrow - we both agreed weekends are the best time to try something that will sedate me so I can guage how hard it will hit me.

Although I've had the morning from h*#), by the time I left her office I felt like it has started turning around for me. The one thing she told me is she will not make multiple med adjustments at once. This made me very happy to hear!

So with any luck things are finally starting to turn around for me. New pdoc, new meds, new lawyer. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much 'cause when I do I fall flat on my face. But I don't know, this time it "feels" right. Wish me luck:)

Love U,
