I'm new here because my dr and DH are pretty sure I'm bi-polar, instead of just severely depressed.

Hi Robin: I've been on lamactil for mania for the past several months and for the most part it is working to control my racing thoughts and the "voices' in my head. Although I am bipolar I very rarely experience the depressive end, so I can't speak to how it works on that particular issue. There are some side-effects, however, that you might want to know about in advance so if they crop up you'll know what they are. I'm sure you know about "the rash," so I won't go into that, but I experienced extreme muscle tightness in my hamstrings and some gastrointestinal issues that weren't all that bad. I've been more tired than usual, but I don't know that that's necessarily related to lamactil.

Overall, I've heard its a very good drug for BP and I'm happy with the results. Best of luck to you. Love, Mo.

Hi...I'm on 400 mgs of Lamictal and I have to say it does work wonders for me...I mood swing a TON and can't take anti depressants, and it does help. Major depression isn't the word for my depression...add about a million times MORE depression to that when I'm swinging DOWN, and you'll find me...lol.

It made me a bit tired at first, but I take all 400 mgs at night. Can't take it during the day. I'm also on other mood stabilizers.

Good luck!

Hugs,

Keli
