So the psych H saw yesterday was the same one he saw in 2004. He asked H why he got off of the Lamictal, H told him he couldn't remember. So I piped up, b/c H said he was actually diagnosed with ADHD & the drug was not working. Pdoc gave H a funny look when I said this (as he had his notes from their previous treatments). Later in the session he sort of scorned H for not taking this illness seriously and he's playing with a line of fire for not doing so.
So H is back on Lamictal, starting today, and is told to wean himself off of Seroquel. He then gave us some samples of another antipsychotic (cannot think of name right now) as a back up if H shows signs of going back into mania. Although this one is not as sedating as Seroquel.
He reminded H he needed to keep his psych appointments so the right combo of meds can be given. Asked why H is not seeing his councelor right now (H claims it's b/c he cannot get night appointments, which I know he can - it's just an excuse right now.) I'm thinking I'd like to recommend to H to find a new tdoc that is not with a clinic, but rather an individual. From my experience I like individual docs better. They seem to be more personable, more attentive and more likely to help during a crisis.
I asked when we should start seeing the effects & he said 2-3w !!! YIPEEE !!!
Although, H didn't take a 1/2 dose of the Seroquel last night. I know it's most likely b/c he didn't want to bother trying to cut it in half. So I think I'll cut the remaning pills in half for him today as I don't want him to stop abruptly.
Day one of treatment!!!

i mean how many people tell a person w/ m.i. to get a hold on themselves & just shake it off b/c we all have problems?PLENTY!!!!!
as for cutting his pills,i think that's a good idea.H is most likely still feeling as tho the smallest tasks are huge.i remember all my life i had my mother taking care of me when i was sick so it really got out of hand when my h just sort of let the whole thing go episode after episode untill *SPLAT*THEN he got it.
he is very lucky to have you.
Bonnie,
Just remember he may have to go through several med changes and lots of ups/downs before things really start to smooth out.
Hi Bonnie...
I agree with Marci...no matter what or where you find your tdoc, they have to be the RIGHT one.
I hope your H does feel some improvement in 2-3 weeks, that'd really be nice. Just don't be surprised if it doesn't happen that fast. It takes a very long time, as you know from reading here, and other places, how long it takes to find stability. I'm so hopeful for you both.
