How many hospital visits have you guys all had, if you don't mind saying? I don't mind saying that I believe it's been 14 for me over 13 years (not evenly distributed- there were spans of years I didn't go at all)

It's embarassing, but I've been hospitalized about 15 times in the past 4 years. Yes, 15 times. I actually got out of the hospital yesterday. I was there for 4 days. Most of my stays have been 7-10 days. I was dx'd in 2002. I was dx'd with borderline personality disorder in 2004.

in the last year, 3 times i/p, 2 times outpatient. narrowly avoided trip #4 in january after an od, due to a very understanding and patient pdoc and brother who opened his home to me for a few days.

Over the past about 8 years, I've been inpatient I think 4 times (I'm not sure if it counts exactly as 4 because one time I was discharged from the hospital, but ended up returning a few days later). Plus many times when I would/should have been put inpatient if I'd been honest (or if I could break my spell of sitting in a chair for days on end, staring straight ahead at nothing, to gather up the energy to make a phone call, lol!).

The last time I was hospitalized was about a year ago...I'm hoping not to make it a repeat, and so far, so good. But just a few months ago (I need to start keeping track of this!), I had one of those staring spells when I didn't move for days...strange that it seems like such a distant memory since I feel so good now!

OK, getting off track again, sorry...good to know that I'm not alone in my multiple hospital visits!

My partner was hosp. and first diagnosed last September. But 3 years before probably should have been.
Your stories are scaring me. I was hoping it was our one and only visit.

On a side note. How would ones SO talk you into GOING to the hospital if you needed to? Some of you have said you didn't realize you needed to go until after the fact.

Rose, have you been tested for autism? I have both mild autism and bipolar, and I have those staring spells, too. At least in my case, they are more likely a symptom of autism than of bipolar.

Hottlips, I can tell you my husband will never have to convince me to go into the hospital, because if I need to go, I am always more than willing. It might seem strange to some people, but for me, the hospital is a place where I can get away from stress.

2 in 2 years. In fact, I was discharged today. I'll post more about that later. I'm really tired (too manic to sleep while i/p) and not feeling like posting just now.

my pdoc has to convince me to go, just because i hate it there...i always know when i need to go...always...and my friends know, and they tell me...but i already know it...i plan on NOT going again, but if I absolutely postively have to as a matter of life and death, i'll go...otherwise, NOPE. course, i've been lots of times...the first few times i went willingly, and it was good...but now, its just the same old thing...however, if i'm in danger of hurting someone, i'll go easy...if not, don't even bother asking me...not a chance...

Hi, Keli! This may have triggers, so read carefully.

On the 7th I was in a bad place and my dh went off on me about some financial stress we're under. I was impulsive and took about 90 Celexa and about 30 Risperdal and about 4 Tylenol 3's. I was serious about it. But after almost an hour I called dh at work to ask him how long it would be before I'd see results. He asked how much I took. I said, "All of it." He raced home and got me to the hospital. Just in time, too. I had a seizure just before we got to the hospital, and another while I was there. They
