***************No Triggers****************Long****************

These past few days would have pushed me over if I wasn't.
Let's start with Thursday of last week. We had a meeting to go over Jackie's test results and get a IEP (Individual Education Plan) in place. We had the school education psychologist that administered the tests, the vice principal, Jackie's home room teacher, her reading teacher, and the special ed. teacher, and some woman from the county. Everyone in the room knows Jackie, has worked with Jackie, so they know she works hard, and tries her damndest. Except the woman from the county. She took one look at Jackie's test results, IQ and things along that nature, and her grades, and made the mistake of saying that Jackie was lazy, and that is why she is failing. BIG MISTAKE. I was the first to jump on her a$$ for that, but I wasn't the only one, everyone started in on her.

Then she says that the letter from Jackie's provider wasn't good enough because she was a Nurse practitioner, not a M.D. She knew this before the meeting, and didn't tell anyone until the start of the meeting. She said I needed a letter from a M.D. before they would consider Jackie's ADD diagnosis as a reason for her to get a IEP. That pi$$ed me off something fierce. I called the pediatric clinic right then and there to ask the front desk tech to have the pediatrician, and Jackie's provider to call me, that I needed the M.D. to sign the letter. Everyone was in shock because I was dealing with that end right at that moment. Then she started attacking Jackie's teachers, saying they weren't doing enough for her.

That got her jumped on again, by the vice principal and me. These teachers love Jackie, and there is no doubt in my mind that they have tried to help her to the best of their abilities. The meeting ended shortly after that, because everyone was so angry at her it would have gotten very ugly. As I am walking out the educational psychologist follows me out, and tells me get the letter. He and the vice principal would make sure Jackie got her IEP. He also told me not to care about what she said everyone knows how Jackie is, and lazy she is not. Jackie's reading teacher was also waiting to talk to me, and asked me if I told Jackie that she wouldn't be in her class anymore. I told her no, not yet until I knew for sure what was going to happen. She almost started crying when she said she couldn't bear the thought of

Hi Donna,

No, they can't go to this school next year. Since we are moving on base, they are zoned for a different school. They are going to finish the school year out here. I will be driving them back and forth.
They will be going to a school that is 85% military kids, so that will be really good for them.
How is your day going? Feeling better?
Luv ya,

That's too bad they can't keep going...but it is so good you got the IEP now...it will follow her all the way thru high school no matter where the military might take you !!!

I'm hanging in there....have a cold/chest thing going on....just don't want ds to get too bad, or get full blown mono.
