Hi, I'm new . . . . . .

I just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I was diagnosed as bipolar a couple of months ago. I went to the pdoc for Adult ADD evaluation. Boy was I surprised when he said stimulants were the last thing he would recommend for me. Other than me, the only person who thinks pdoc may have correctly diagnosed me is my husband. All of my friends say no way. I haven't told my parents 'cause they would totally deny there's anything at all wrong with me.
You know, I just don't often verbalize what's in my head and sometimes I guess it's kind of sad, anxious, frantic, racing, etc., etc., etc.,
So, I've been on Trazadone, Seroquel and Lamictal for about 8 weeks or so. I added in nightly doses of Benadry to counteract the very stiff/sore neck I've had due to the Seroquel. My doc started me at 100 mg of Seroquel. I totally couldn't get up in the morning. I'm now taking 25 mg or less (sometimes only 12.5 mg). I've been doing pretty well except today I'm feeling kind of depressed. Could be situational. Hard to tell.
Anyway, I may just lurk for a while with an occassional comment. Then again, I might be incredibly prolific. Kind of hard to tell . . . .

Hi Bev.
Welcome.
My family is the opposite for the most part. My mom was in denial about my suicide attempt, but the bipolar dx they took okay. It was like "ooooh there IS a reason for this wonky behaviour"
Hope all is well with you and we will be hearing from you soon.
Bev,
Welcome to the board, I'm glad you found us!
Unfortunately, you'll find that our families' disbelief in the correctness of the BP dx is pretty common; either that or they think all of mental illness/psychiatry is a bunch of hooey.
