Popping in...very cranky

Edit: triggers (self-injury) later on...sorry...

Hi, just checking in to say hi. Finally finished exams on Thursday, and was grateful to have made it through with all the trouble I'd had with digestive problems and migraines. I had gotten what I think was a colitis from taking an antibiotic, which was really bad, along with my "usual" constant nausea and headaches.

So I took my first dose of Neurontin last night, hoping it would help with my muscle pain...and I didn't wake up until 1 PM! Hopefully that will go away?! That's been my problem with almost all meds, though, even antidepressants, that they make me too sleepy to function.

But surprisingly enough, even on this extremely low dose (the doctor said she doubted I'd notice an effect until we raised it several times over...though she said knowing how sensitive I am, it's possible!), my muscle pain is a little less, and what is amazing is my nausea and abdominal pain have also let up a good bit...so I had a few bites, literally, to eat today...whereas I have basically not eaten at all for weeks.

But I am also extremely cranky...first I got my hair colored for the first time ever, and it didn't turn out like I wanted it to, so that's got me hitting myself...but I also just don't want to see anyone, don't want to talk to anyone, just feel like lashing out, even through the slight haze of sleepiness I'm in! I've avoided talking to people mostly because I'm afraid of what will come out of my mouth...I did have to talk to my parents, and was very annoyed-sounding with them.

I know this could just be a mood, and I'm going to give the med more time, I guess...I just never know how to tell exactly what is causing what. The only reason it occurred to me that this crankiness could be from the medicine is that I apologized to a friend for being cranky, and she (being very insightful, I guess), asked if it could be a medicine.

It's just so frustrating being so insanely sensitive to all these medications...my doctor is constantly amazed at what can happen to me with even the lowest dose...heck, I got pseudomembranous colitis just from taking a regular antibiotic! I'm realizing I may have to go back on the several antidepressants I used to take because they at least helped my IBS so that I could eat...but I was overmedicated and sleepy (had to take yet another antidepressant, Wellbutrin, to try to energize me from the sleepiness...so that was 3 antidepressants total!)...so I just don't know what to do.

Thank you for letting me rant...it's helped to get it all out...oh shoot, the restroom is calling...

Sorry to hear about your problems, but this med seems promising. With the sleepiness maybe it will go away with time. I hope that you find the right combo.

Hugs,
