Hello,
I am a mom to four boys, and am also bp. I have been dx'ed for 18 years and i am 30. Right now I am taking geodon, but have issues with it so will not be on it long. I have been on depakote and trilital (got really bad rash). I am getting twitching and anxiety on the geodon. So that will be gone here soon too. I also have a comorbid eating disorder - anorexia. THat is all for now. dont know what else to say except I hope i find sanity soon or this will be the death of me.

Hello Jen and welcome to the board!!! I'm so glad you found us...this is a great place of support and friendship! I'm Keli. I'm 35 and have one son who is 15. I've only been officially dx'ed for 5 years...but like you, have been bp for much longer. I've been on every kind of med there is! Still have ups and downs...oh the joys of being Bipolar.
We are a very close, very tight-knit board here and love to meet new friends. You'll see that we all go through a lot together fighting the BP crap. So, please, feel free to jump right in and join us, okay?
Love and Hugs,
Keli
Welcome Jen.
Glad you found this board. I am still feeling my way around the board. I don't post much but I do read the post everyday. And I was so surprised and happy to find out that I am not alone in this BP fight. I was dx'd 3yrs ago but I have had trouble for years. My family is not one of those that say hey ok something is wrong let's get you to the doctor.
I have 2 living children. 9 yr old daughter and an 8 month old son. Hang in there and read the posts here.

Jen,
Welcome to the board, I'm glad you found us and think you will also find that this is a wonderful place of support.
Finding the right med, just plain sucks and even more so when you're having to go through it again, especially after a while of being stable on one or another.
Welcome Jen.
Just wanted to say hi and I also have and ED. (ED-NOS I restrict and binge).
Hope you will find lots of support here.
Hi Jen and Welcome !!
Sorry I'm late, wasn't here yesterday, the flu is running thru our house (again).
Like everyone said, the women here are awesome....and its one place you'll find where people understand, and that in itself is helpful !!
God could not be everywhere, so
This is a great board. Welcome! you are not alone here. It may feel like it some times, but there are many of us that have been walking down similar paths.
I have BPII rapid cycling and have gone in and out of active ED behaviors for 18 years my self. Hang in there. If you can take a minute I recommend the and taking a look the Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP).

I use a workbook that I got during inpatient a million years a go that is very similar.
Some of the things that help me eat well and stay healthy are: I also don't weigh my self EVER! even when i go to my Internal medicine doc or GYN for annual check up, they weigh me and i don't look or ask. I don't want to know it just makes it impossible for me to eat. I do have mirrors and things like that, but once i got rid of my scale it helped. It may not be the thing for you. I used to obsessively work out when i was younger and lived in CA, i would roller blade in the morning in the evening for HOURS... now i live in NEW york and i try and walk as much as i can when it is NOT FREEZING OUT! But i think the thing that helps me the most with ED is making those around me aware that when they criticize my weight or TELL me to eat it only make it worse. I am a control FREAK! ONce i told DBF that he stopped and i regained a healthy weight.
