That does'nt sound much like a TRUE bipolar to me...but I'm not a doctor...and you REALLY need to get your pdoc to PIN DOWN a real diagnosis and treat your properly for it. That's so frustrating, I know. I mean, some of your sysmptoms, COULD be BP symptoms, but they could also be symptoms of other things too. You don't sound like you have REAL EXTREME highs, or the REAL EXTREME lows. I'm sorry, I know you were hoping for more help! Maybe someone else has a different opinion.

I can tell you not all BP consists of *severe mania*.
Have you heard of "hypomania"? That is what I have. I have a lot of depression with hypomania. It is called Bipolar II.
Here is a tad of info on BPII
Bipolar II
People with bipolar II disorder experience major depressive episodes that alternate with hypomania (milder manic episodes). During hypomanic episodes, patients may become more productive or noticeably goal driven, but their ability to function well in their normal daily activities is NOT impaired.
That's quite true too. More depression comes along with BPII, less manic.
hi jennifer - the post about bipolar II was in my thoughts as well. for a long time i experienced the "normal" moods and then swung into major depressions and was treated for major depressive episodes for years. then, i started experiencing manic episodes out of nowhere. that's when i was diagnosed with bipolar II. my manias aren't the severe type but they are close. everyone is different though.
i also agree with keli in that you need to pin the doc down and get a diagnosis so that you can get the right treatment. it can take a while to get the right med(s). it took me about 2 years and finally getting a new pdoc before i found the combo that worked. and even now that needs to be tweaked. it's a process, but very worthwhile so stick with it and be persistent. we have to be active participants in our own recovery. we can't leave it all up to the docs and the meds.
so continue to post here. we are a very supportive group of women and want to help you in any way possible.

You could be BPII. I was first diagnosed as major depressive, then BPII and then BPI. It took awhile for a pdoc to see the highs I was having because when I was hypomanic or maic I didn't really complain, but I
Being slightly bipolar is like being slightly pregnant-you either are or you aren't-LOL!
