Good day at the GP

Well things went well with the GP. He gave me 5 refills on my effexor and seraquel. I cant believe it. So I am well set until I get to see my pdoc. I asked him some questions about my fibromyalgia and he wants to run tests now for lupus and rhumatoid arthritis. He is leaning toward one of those might be my actual problem and no the fibro. So on day next week I will have to fit in those tests. I guess I should do some research about them to see what they involve. My boss now has me working 5 days a week and thats not what I want. I was only to be doing 2-3 days. But a lady at work had triple bypass and will be out til late summer. So when I see him I am gonna talk to him about my schedule. He is to cheap to hire extra help. And 2 months ago we had another girl quit as well. So we are strached a bit thin. And that is stressing me out.

Other wise it was a decent day but ever since I got home I just cant be bothered by any thing. I dont even feel like talking. But I wanted to let you all know how my day went the the GP. I hope you all have a good night and a weekend.

Huggs to all,

Johanna,
Glad to hear that your gp visit went well...I know you were concerned about it. Do you see a rheumatologist for the fibro? The tests for lupus are blood tests that basically look for normal things out of wack (CBC, sed rate, etc.) and usually a urinalysis to look for protein or red/white blood cells in the urine...there is no one test the they use for it. Positive ANA and double stranded DNA are very indicitive of lupus if you have other symptoms. The dsDNA is highly specific to SLE. There are many great web sites that describe the tests and the symptoms. There is also a lupus message board here that has links to general information. The lupus is what throws me off with meds. I don't really want to go on lithium because of how hard it is on your body and because it has been linked with symptoms of drug induced lupus (DLE). I have been very lucky- I caught my lupus early and have been medicated with an antimalarial for the last year. It has helped and I have been spared any major problems. Not to say I will stay that way but for now I'm doing ok (well, with the lupus, not emotionally).

I hope your work situation slows down a little bit- it's hard to keep up when you are not feeling well. The physical effects the mental and vice versa...it can be a viscious cycle.

Sorry to give you unsolicited information- I hope I didn't overstep a boundary- I'm no expert on lupus, I just thought I'd share some of my experiences with it.

I think the RA tests are blood tests too.

Jo, that is awesome you got your meds and enough to last for awhile. I will pray for you to find a pdoc asap. I don't know anything about lupus, but I know how horrible fibro can make you. I had one doc tell me I have fibro and another tell me I don't, that it is my weight. I do know, I have pain from whatever it is. My sister has fibro and I have the same symptoms she has although hers are worse then mine. Good luck with finding a Dx's and getting treated for what you have.

Just a suggestion and I have no idea how much pain you are in or anything, but my doctor told me I had fibro and also tested me for RA and lupus, when actually it was my depression that was causing me all my pain. I am now on cymbalta and it is helping a lot. So if all your tests come back negative (and I would definately get tested first) you might want to try that.

Hugs. I know how bad it sucks to be in pain and not be able to get better right way.

that is great he gave you so many refills...sounds like he's being thorough too, so i'm glad he's testing for other things.
