Another post inspired me to bring up this topic. We all know it is illegal for employers to fire based on disabilities such as bipolar, as long as reasonable accommodations can be made. Problem is, in practice, discrimination is very hard to prove in court. All the employer in question needs to do is make up a reason, any reason, other than the disability. Twice I have had employers become aware that I was bipolar (there were other times that nothing happened), and the first time, I was fired for incompetence, though they had said nothing before they found out, and the second time? I didn't say anything to the principal where I was teaching, but I told two of my coteachers, and a parent I didn't get along with was a nurse at my doc's office and also knew. Somehow, someone leaked it to the principal, and after that, he made my life such a living hell that I was happy to resign at the end of the year.
So I wonder, how many of you have had problems like this when your boss found out you were bipolar? I KNOW I'm not the only one!

I have not disclosed to my employer that I am bipolar. I don't feel secure enough to tell them for the exact reason you stated. But, I once held
The BP symptoms cost me lots of jobs, but all before I was dx'd!
