Awhile ago my dr put me on wellbutrin, there were 2 reasons I wanted it the main one was quiting smoking and secondary one was I was feeling a bite lazy and thought maybe I was slightly depressed. At 1st it worked great then it seemed to stop working and I wanted to sleep all the time so she upped the dose that worked briefly and same thing. So I have up and quit taking it I know your not suppose to do that but I did. Well I've been back to not wanting to get out of bed so I started taking them a few days ago, already huge difference, I guess I need them.

This is not uncommon for antidepressants -- maybe you could ask for a different medication?
I have been on wellbutrin for a few months and I found it to be great in the way of hardly no side effects. I could not sleep well on it though and would wake up 2-3 times every night and have a hard time getting back to sleep. I found it helped with the depression a little bit but I expected more. Every time I went to my dr and discussed how it was working for me he would tell me "well its not the best for depression but its the best for no weight gain and no sexual side effects" so I stuck it out and kept taking it. At my last visit he said I should go on cipralex as it is better for depression and the sleep issue and is also a non weight gain pill.
LFH-hello. there is no shame in taking anti-deps, but like everything that involves the body and brain, ther eis an element of trial and error. so, sometimes patients will need to test out different anti deps to choose one that works best for them in terms of maximum benefit with minimum side effects. unlike most common antidepressents such as prozac or zoloft, wellbutrin acts on a different neurotransmitter (norepinephrine vs seratonin) and binds differently in the brain. so, if you are having some trouble with it, know that there are millions of anti depressants out there (ok, so thats an exaggeration obviously) but tons of anti deps that operate differently that help treat your symptoms as well.
