This isn't really related to bipolar anything except that it STRESSES ME OUT LIKE CRAZY and we all know what that does. Okay, so I'm really close to my mom and my aunt (her sister) is the bossiest person you've ever met. She's constantly putting my mom down, telling her what to do, etc. She said the reason I'm bipolar and my brother has depression is because my parents relationship is bad. (Jee, then shouldn't every divorced couple have mentally ill children?)I can tell it's just breaking her down which she already has a lot to deal with between my recent diagnosis and my brother's problems started in the past year too. I just want to beat up my aunt and tell her what a bitch she's being!! It wouldn't be hard for me to tell her off but I know my mom would hate it if I did so I won't- advice anyone?? It's hurting me to see my mom hurt like this :(

I think it is sad what your aunt is doing to your mom. I don't know how helpful this will be, but make sure that your mother knows that bipolar and depression have a chemical basis, not an environmental one. True, stress can aggravate them, but they are defects in the body that are NO ONE'S FAULT. If she won't listen to you, or still has misgivings, find a good pdoc to tell her this.

it is sad to see what your aunt is doing to your mom...in the end, it will be your mom that needs to stand up to her, not you.

My mom is such a sweet person and doesn't like conflict so she just let's people walk all over her. I keep telling her that she needs to fight back but she won't! She knows it bothers me, but what can I do, really? Hopefully she will learn someday that her hapiness is just as important as others.
