Hi everyone! At my last tdoc appt last week, she told me she would like me to be evaluated by a pdoc. It's been about a month of seeing her every week. This came about because I flat out asked what my problem was and she said she didn't know what I was, for sure. Signs of many things. This actually made me feel good because now I have something more concrete to grasp as opposed to just thinking "what is wrong with me??". Her dh is a pdoc who doesn't take insurance and I've decided to pay out-of-pocket just to see him. He's got a great rep and this will keep things simple. He is very pricey but I've set aside some $ to get this evaluation. I haven't told tdoc as I figure she'll find out through him. It was interesting because I had to give all this info over the phone and then she had to call me back to see if he would agree to see me!
It's for an hour, my appt. Can someone tell me what to expect? Is this just talking to him or tests or ? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!! Kelli

I've had numerous psych evals. They're usually pretty painless, but like you said, they can be pricey. The more questions he asks, the better. Beware of anyone who makes up his mind too quickly! (I had a pdoc do that once, with disasterous results).

I'm wondering why a pdoc will not take insurance.....that is a red flag for me.
They should ask a lot of questions and it should take a good 45minutes to an hour.
