I have been in therapy with dh for a few weeks now. I've never really had therapy before, but have been dx'ed with OCD, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder and depression. Because I get in and out of depression and when I'm out I am highly motivated (although still paranoid and not reckless) tdoc was wondering if it may be bipolar disorder. Then, when she found out that I sometimes lost memory of the events that cause my panic attacks... after the attack I won't always remember what set me off or why, she seemed more convinced that it may be bipolar...
I have been researching it, and some of the symptoms seem like they may be like me, others not so much. I am a perfectionist, but at times I get into a funk where I cannot get motivated. My house will be spotless one week, then a disaster the next. I will exercise everyday when my house is clean, the next week i couldn't be bothered to do so much as a sit up. I have occasional insomnia... as well as a few other things.
The one symptom I cannot find information on is my memory loss during panic attacks. I was hoping that someone here could tell me if that is a common symptom, or if it ever happens to them?

Hi Laurel and welcome to the Bipolar Message Board. I am not a doctor, but a lot of what you describe could be bipolar. Do you have a pdoc (psychiatrist) or have you spoken with your family doctor? If not, maybe you can get your therapist to refer you to one for an evaluation. The blackouts are unfamiliar to me. The only experience I've had with them were due to a toxic reaction to a medication I was on.
Here you will find we are a fantastic group of ladies who are willing to share our experiences and offer our support and even share our ideas. Please post often. I would like to get to know you better.

Hi and Welcome to the board !!!
And congrats...looks like you'll be getting married very soon !!!
God could not be everywhere, so
I live in a small city in Canada where there is a severe dr shortage, and my dr is a quack, so there isn't much of a chance at getting in to see a pdoc or switching dr's anytime soon.
I'm just really not sure if it is bipolar based on the blackouts... they don't seem to be related according to any research I've done, but then it could be that I'm bipolar and have soemthing else causing blackouts?
