freaking year.
well,almost.
i think my husband & i fight about the lice more than anything else.
so i got the script for the strong stuff, used it, & imagine my horror when i arrive at work with my kids(who both had playdates all week,1 a sleepover)& i see a live one leaping thru my dd's head.then i stop at the table at lunch & actually(not obviouly of course)pull 2 from another dd's head.
i thought i'd throw up.why us?i mean i'm so careful,i was the advice lady for lice but everyone else seems to get rid of them & in my home it's such an ongoing battle i almost feel like seeing what would happen if i simply gave up.i told h i'm now willing to use my own money to pay a fortune to a proffessional to pick their heads & clean out the house.i'm willing to shave my heads & theirs.i'm thinking haircuts but wondering if i infected my salon.i'm completely paranoid now.the infestation has never been this bad.
you know what?
i actually paid over 1000$ to a gypsy who claimed it was a spiritual curse & she could take it off.
guess i wasted that 1100$,huh
BUT i'm looking foward to seeing my pdoc & smiling & saying"everythings peachy" since last time i asked for help he blew me off big big big time.i cannot wait to let him know that if he can't cooperate neither will i.from now on he'll simply be my drug dealer.
i hate everyone & it doesn't feel as freeing as i thought it would.

I am so sorry to hear it - unless someone's been through the lice thing with their kid, they don't know how bad it is. My oldest dd had the thickest, curliest, longest hair and got it 5 times from 1st to 3rd. Because of her hair, it would take 4 hours with that comb. My back would be breaking and my arms wanted to fall off. And then I had to wash, boil, and spray down the house, car, and everything. So it usually cost $200 a pop for all told and one time even I got it! I thought I would never forget that but I did. She's 19 yo now and it had been forgotten till last month when 7 yo dd brought home from daycare. I tell you, my blood ran ice cold as all the memories came back. It "only" took 2 hours for her hair (and I cut 3 inches off!) and all this to do two days after I had a hysterectomy! It's such a morally depleting, horrible thing. I am still checking my comb, a month later.
Please know I am thinking of you and hoping there's an end to the infestation in sight. Many, many hugs, Kelli

Sorry you've had such a difficult time with lice. Lice is awful to have.

We dealt with two separate bouts of lice last year. The first my sister-in-law gave to us. She apparently baby-sits for kids that chronically have lice. She informed us (via her mom) a day later that she had them. We immediately treated the whole family and the house. That time we caught them early and got rid of them.

The second time (about 5 months later) I got them when I had to go to the state mental hospital here in Tulsa. My roommate was fanatical about combs (the ones that are provided by the hospital) she kept mixing hers up with mine regardless of where I put mine. Didn't think nothing of it at the time. A month later I discovered my youngest DD had them. And after doing head checks realized the whole family (all 5 of us) had them. We treated and treated and treated. Nine months later we were still dealing with lice. Finally the school was putting pressure on us for how much school my oldest DD had missed due to the lice. I decided the best thing to do was to shave everyone bald in the whole family and kept them shaved for 3-4 weeks. Meanwhile I treat the whole house. Bag up all the stuffed/soft toys --you know, whole nine yards. That's what it took for us to get rid of them. It's been 7 months since then. My girls' is shoulder length now. The whole experience taught me to be extra careful in what touches my hair and to do head checks 1-2 times per week.

Hope you find relief soon.
