it's like it's not real. This CAN'T be real. People shouldn't have to live like this. How long does depakote take to work? I mean the AD part? I'm a mess. Seeing things, paranoid, please please please let this all bad one big bad dream.

If I recall correctly Depakote did not work immediately for me. It *did* work though - very well. This is a bad dream. You will wake up.

I've been there. My 20s were a terrible time, but at the end I did get my bp mostly under control.

I can't say how long Depakote should take to work, but ask your pdoc. It may not be for you anyway- it was terrible for me. I take Neurontin as a stabilizer and it works great for me. (No weight gain with it, either).

If you are hallucinating and are paranoid, you might need to be in the hospital. I suggest you see your pdoc about that pronto!

Not one medication will work for everyone. My Dr. put me on Depakote and I was a train wreck myself. Having the same symptoms as you are describing. Is your Dr. doing blood tests to check your levels? When on Depakote you must check to make sure the level is in normal range because if it isn't it will not help at all. It will give you the symptoms that you are describing. Talk to your Dr. and see about switching meds. I take Abilify and Lamictal for my Bipolar. It really has helped me. You may get a little weight gain on this combination, but it is worth it and it works quickly. No waiting for levels to build.

{{{{{{{{{{{{Meg}}}}}}}}}}} I agree with everyone else. You need to talk to your pdoc asap.
