When I was in the hospital, the staff would skip over this topic. They'd mention that it was helpful, but didn't really go into detail as to how to do this. I've picked up some pointers here and there in my research. but I'd like to see what y'all thought.

How did you go about identifying triggers?
What seems to act as triggers for you?

Think of what stresses you--those are usually going to be your triggers, a lot of time it's trial & error over time.

When I was in the hospital, we talked triggers TO DEATH!!! Triggers are whatever it takes for you personally to react in a negative way...whether it be anger, rage, depression, and STRESS. Just anything. They are very personal, at times...and sometimes they can be things that wouldn't bother anyone else.

My triggers are needing money...not huge amounts, but tiny amounts like for gas, or lunch money for my kid, etc. Being bored. Shopping. HAVING money...talking to certain people. Lots of stuff.

I've learned that I cannot go in Walmart during the busiest times, or else I have a panic attack. Sometimes, I've left in the middle of grocery shopping. I can't go into crowded places, anywhere...ugh.

You'll learn your triggers as you go. Sometimes you can avoid them, but sometimes you can't and you have to learn that about you. You'll get there.

Hugs!
