Guess what!? I feel almost NORMAL!!! I think tegretol is the one!! I've only been on it 5 days at 400 mg and I swear twice today I've had almost normal moments. My brain feels NORMAL. I forgot what this felt like! It's been forever.
Okay. So. Here's the few questions-
1. I'm going to see my pdoc on Friday. Is he going to raise the dose? Should I say no way... I mean it's only been 5 days so it seems stupid to raise the dose when I've had almost normal moments.
2. My only real side effect has been chest tightness. Do you think this is increased anxiety or is this a possible side effect. Anyone know?
I'm so excited!! If only tegretol had been started a few weeks ago- then I could be in school right now. And here's the thing. That doesn't even make me angry! It must be working!
Sorry, major excitement overload. You all have already probably had a time like this where a drug worked. This is a first for me!! Indulge my naiveite :)
Meg

I'm glad they finally found something that is working....not sure about the tightness in the chest, but do make sure you tell them about it.
I would say if you feel the 400mgs is working...see if they will leave it at that dose for now and keep checking in with your pdoc.
keep us posted !!

I'm so happy for you! Even to feel good for a short period of time. I remember when I first started a mood stabilizer. Even the smallest improvement felt divine. I was quite sure I was mad as a hatter. Maybe I was ;-).

Meg, that's great news about the tegretol. I've never taken it so I don't know about the chest tightness. I'm sure by now you've been able to ask your pdoc about it. Please let us know what he said. I hope that the chest tightness was just a passing side effect and that the tegretol continues to work for you.
Let us know how you're doing.
Hugs,
