Hi everyone,
I am 29 yrs old and going back to college. I did not go to college when I was younger it just was not an option for me. I am very nervous and anxious about going back. My classes start on wednesday. I am also excited it will be a new journey for me. I had come off my meds and I am working my way back on them with the help of my pdco. In the past when I have been stressed I have used drinking or other self harm behaviors to cope. This time I want it to be different. I am feeling depressed. Its weird I don't want to go to bed at night but then I don't want to get up in the morning. What is with that ? This has never happened before. Well I am just rambling sorry
thanks
kay

I had been doing that too. I just couldn't get myself to go lay down in bed and would end up at the computer or tv at 3, 4, even 5am. Then I couldn't drag myself out of bed in the morning if the house were on fire.
Congratulations on starting school! I'm sure you will do just great. It's really not that bad. You'll see. Just make sure you read the assignments, like when you're assigned to read chapters xyz. (I tended to not do the reading and it made it harder on myself until my jr year and a little lightbulb popped on and said -duh read it- )
Anyways, I hope you have classes that you will enjoy. I think it may be a blessing in disguise that you are going now rather than when you were younger. You're more mature and focused, and you comprehend that money is paying for classes (many teen freshmen just don't get that), and you are going and paying to be there so you know you're not going to skip classes and such. I think it's great. You will probably get alot more out of it than I did when I started when I was 18. The first few years were just a joke. I had to go back and retake the classes and pay to retake the classes. See, you don't have to pay twice for the same classes! Another bonus!
Seriously though, relax, you're going to do great!

Hi Kay,
It is great you are getting back on meds to help you cope.
This is great that you are off to a new start. You will be ok. I just went back to school and I am a basket case at times but I expect too much from myself. Don't do that to yourself. Read and take notes and whatever you have doubts about ask your professor. I have to talk to mine on Tuesday.
Remember the past is in the past and we can't do anything about those things but we do have a choice in the here and now. That doesn't mean we will always make the right choices now but we have a new chance everyday.
