My partner was hospitalized and diagnosed just over a year ago. He is on Zyprexa and Lithium and doing really well. He is doing great at recognizing triggers, adjusting his schedule instead of just driving himself into stress and exhaustion. He really is doing well (after 5 med adjustments.)
He saw his Pdoc yesterday and is having his blood drawn to check his lithium levels. His pdoc still wants to see him every 8 weeks. My partner feels that 3 months would be adequate since we are both getting good at recognizing his symptoms and responding as needed.
How often do you guys see your Pdocs? Did you see them more frequently the first years of your diagnosis and if you were responding well to meds did your visits spread out a bit?
I'm just wondering because he brought it up. His doc has 400 patients and seeing him is sometimes inconvenient. It means missing work, which my partner hates, in fact he is going in early tomorrow to make up for time he missed for his appt. He doesen't HAVE to he just is.

8 weeks seems like a dream.

Hi!
First let me say how wonderful it is to love and care about someone enough to come here and ask this for them.
Love,
