I have been on Lexapro 20mg for about 5 years. It started out at 10mg, prescribed by my general practitioner for Depression, then when I called it in, I told them it was 20mg and got the refill at 20mg. I've been on the 20mg ever since because it really worked on keeping me from going waaay down, you know what I mean with the waaaaay down. The selfharm thoughts and the anger and extreme agitation. SO, anyways, that was 5yrs ago in a different state. I've had a GP call in refills ever since. Well, now a few weeks ago, I got "caught" by my GP and "screened" and told I'm BP. great. They gave me Seroquel. It was a starter pack that went from 100mg on day 1 all the way up to 800mg by day 7. All I did was sleep the last couple days. Well, then that pack ran out and I had NO seroquel for three days. Then, the GP called it in at 600mg a day, 200 in the morning, 200 in the afternoon, and 200 at bed time. About 30min after I take it, I fall asleep. Doesn't matter where I am, sitting in a chair, what ever, I'm asleep and NOTHING can wake me. My SD was late to school one morning because I slept through the alarms. On days that my DH works I now have my friend calling me to make sure I am up in the morning to get Sd up and ready for school in time. My friend almost had to come to the house and physically wake me because I slept through the alarms AND the ringing phone. She called 3 times, and I finally woke to answer the third call.
The Seroquel seems to be helping, I'm not all insomnia at night anymore, but I just can't do the sleeping thing its like I take it, sleep, wake up have to take it again as soon as I wake up, then it knocks me out again! I'm sooo sleepy right now, and I haven't taken it yet this morning... in fact, I think I'm only going to take it at night and see if it does okay. I just can't keep sleeping morning, noon, AND night.

I was on Seroquel and it did the same thing to me. Even the next day I would have a "hangover" from it. I stopped taking it and told my doc that I couldn't take the side effects. I do recall that after taking it for a while the sleepiness got better. I couldn't really tell any difference in my moods, though.
Good luck! Here's hoping you find the right meds!
Keep your fingers crossed, a lot of times the sleepiness effect wears off after a couple weeks.
I got me some Wellbutrin a few years ago to help quit smoking. That was before I was on the Lexapro. The bad thing in my situation is that I dont have a pdoc. I got the Lexapro from one regular general practitioner who died of a heart attack 6 mo. later. Then I just got it refilled through another reg. doctor. Same thing with the Wellbutrin and Paxil I had taken before. Then I got the Seroquel from a P.A.-physicians assistant when I was there for a rash I'd mentioned insomnia. yadda yadda.
The Seroquel feels good when I'm not asleep or in that sooo sleeeepy that I could just literally fall out of my chair. The only way I can describe the horrible sleepiness is that its like having been awake 36 hours and trying to keep myself awake.
I'm definitely keeping the Lexapro.. but I have been trying to conceive and I know BOTH Lexapro and Seroquel.. not suppose to take while pregant or trying to get pregnant. Ugh. I guess I have to get a stinking Pdoc. I've been putting it off.
thx for the BTDT's!!
