Hi Everybody - My name is Jena. I am Bipolar and have been on medication for about 5 years now. Lately I have been full of worry. I worry about leaving my straightening iron on and it setting my house on fire. When I take my dog for a walk, I'm constantly look for other dogs for fear of us getting attacked. I worry that if I take a shower when my dryer is on the house will catch on fire. I'm worried about my parents getting in a car accident and dying. I'm worried that someone will break into my house and rape me. I took my purse with me into a store today to pay for gas because I was worried something would happen to my car and I couldn't get in it to retrieve my purse. I keep thinking someone is throwing rocks against my window at night even though realistically it's probably just a bush blowing against my window. Does anyone else experience this with Bipoalr Disorder? I go see my pdoc tomorrow. I was just curious. Thanks! Jena

I have experienced this to a minor degree. My grandmother experiences this to a similar severity as you have mentioned. Paranoia can manifest in BPD, however; it is also a trait in Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and a few other disorders. The best thing to do is to talk with your Pdoc and tell him/her the frequency, the intensity, and the duration, as well as how it effects your daily living.

I don't have much more to add then Michelle did....just wanted to respond and say Hi and I agree you should call your pdoc and let them know and see if they can adjust your meds.

Glad you are here and posting, we look forward to getting to know you better !

Hey Jena! I remember you, hon!!! How are you doing???

This sounds more like anxiety and paranoia to me...and yes, I experience it...when it gets bad, I take Seroquel (can't take any other a/p) and it usually takes care of it for me.

The things we experience...so much fun!

Love and Hugs,

keli

Hi floridagirl!

I get these feelings often, and I just make adjustments...walk in a different neighborhood, give my parents an emergency mobile phone for their car, never run electrical appliances while showering, carry my purse with me wherever I go, and always, ALWAYS, lock the door when I am home alone at night. BTW I have never been diagnosed with a psych disorder. Is there something else to it? I feel like it is a good thing to follow your gut instincts, there's nothing to lose.

Hi Jena

I can't speak for everyone, but I know I suffer from paranoia as you have described. I am on meds now, I think it's the zyprexa, that help stop the worrysome thoughts. Talk to your pdoc and see what he/she has to say. I hope they can get you squared away soon. I know what you are going through and I know it's not fun. Please let us know how it goes.

Hugs,
Traci
